OH Kripke I love you but I hate you!





Ok let's start with the SQUEEE part, would you?
The squee is on....DEAN WINCHESTER. I love him every single moment more than the one before. I missed him so much. I'm starting to think Tv Show will be over for me when SPN will end.

Dean, I love you so. Hot, smart, caring, sweet (would you deny that?, think of his reaction about the rabbit)kick ass boy!!!

Every expression, every action,every line, Jensen does rocks. Dean rocks. Ok, end of squee. Maybe.


Highlights

-Suits.

-Smart boys, so professional.

-Dean and Sam talking in the witch's house. The rabbit.

-Dean talking to the 911.

-Dean's fisrt reaction to Ruby and Sam's face.

-Dean in big brother protector mode.


-Dean and Sam arguing about Ruby. Oh Sam you are so like Dean, and this is worrying him so much!

-"You're leaving"...Sam have you really given up, haven't you?

-Dean in pain, bleeding. Evil bitch!!!

-Sam worried and ready to kill everyone to save him.

-Why did she stop the bullet? The COLT bullet?

-Ruby saving Dean and telling him, "stop to call me bitch".

-All the scene with the Demon, a new leader rising in the west and he does not like Sam...they don't believe in him. They don't believe Sam can actually be their leader...is this the truth? Or just something said to confuse Sam?

-Dean to the rescue!

-Both stuck to the wall.

-Dean's face when Ruby and Tammy talk.

-Girls fight!!!

-Dean stabbing the demon with so much rage and strenght. Don't mess with his brother!

-Dean helping Sam.

-Dean and Ruby at the end. I guess she works better than Bela, and I do like Bela.


I have been waiting this episode for so long that I can't believe is actually here. The boys are back, Ruby too.

The episode
Overall, not bad. I really don't care about the witch plotline and how it has been developed. I do care about the main arch and the mythology behind the surface.
I like that SPN is becoming gross. It has to be imo, it's called Supernatural, it can't be soft. Now I would like it to be a little scarier.
I enjoyed how some scenes were shot.


Dean, Sam, Ruby and the demons mythology
So she's not bad, so she's not a fallen angel but she was once human and then became a demon. This is interesting. Since in Sin City they spoke of fallen angels, I wonder
whether there are two diffente kinds of demons, the ones who were once humans and the one who were angels. Would be interesting to expand the knowledge around them and
their world. I actually would like an episode set in Hell :).
Btw imo it can happen, I mean, you are in hell for the eternity and you become what the others are. Not to mention that is a perfect revelation at this point of the season.
It sticks with Dean's future and fears.
Back again on Ruby, now. I guess her character is one of those I can't either like or dislike completely. I mean I think her role in this season is interesting for the
mythology but she is also a very disturbing element for the boys. Bela is more dangerous, because she doesn't hesitate to put the brothers in danger for her personal gain, but Ruby is more destabilizing. Ruby lied to Sam in order to get his attention and trust. This is cruel, once Sam will find out he might probably kill Ruby but, she really wants Sam to be ready for the war. She wants him to be stronger, to become more like Dean. Why? because she knows that the old Sam, the one who spent hours brooding, thinking, analyzing everything, couldn't win a war where he has to be quick and resolved. Sam must be strong enough to go over his fears and his hesitations.
Ruby knew the only way she had to get to Sam was lying about Dean.

Now I would like to know why Ruby cares so much. Just because she is somehow still human? or because she wants to be the leader....or what if the rising leader is Ruby herself? maybe she is just lying to Dean, like she did to Sam.

Or maybe she just wants to regain her soul?

Then I like her interaction with the boys. Sam is kinda like a little kid when she's around. He is there listening to her, maybe fighting not to trust her but so in desperate need to believe she could actually help him to save Dean. Sam surely is not unbiased about Ruby.
Dean and Ruby? Better than I thought. I liked how the tension between them calmed down but, at the same time, how Dean considered her. can we say that he still think she is a bitch and deserves to die or now he believes her and sees her human side?

She is there to let Dean know what will happen next. I don't think we have to wait the next episode to see Dean realizing he doesn 't want to die.
What Ruby told him should be enough to make him re think his whole attitude. His future is, becoming a demon. What he has hated and hunted for all his life. The EVIL. Not a simple creature, not a vampire...a DEMON. Dean can't deal with this. He can't numbly accept it, he just can't.
For once he will decide to live for himself, because becoming a demon is too much even for Dean.

Where does all of this leave Sam?
Before this episode the whole point was that he was working behind the scene to get Dean out of the deal, now is Dean to know the truth and maybe, in the future, we could even see Dean and Ruby working together to reinforce Sam. Weird ally for Dean, but useful since he wants the same thing Ruby wants, preparing Sam to face the future without him.
And maybe there is a chance for Dean...becoming a demon with a soul, like Ruby apparentely is.
Meanwhile Dean will try to get himself out of the deal, so this is an awesome twist plot wise.

Can Dean die and go to hell? Can he become demon faster than the other human beings and will have Sam to fight him in order to save him?
Of course I totally dislike this idea, but I can't deny it's a very good one. Full of potential, angst, action, love, pain.

But I DONT LIKE IT. I DONT LIKE EVIL!DEAN at all.
The question is, Dean can't be saved or Ruby can't save Dean? This totally makes BIG difference.

But and this is why Kripke is a genius, maybe this is just a twist to distract us and Sam is still the Demons King and Dean the one who has to save him from Hell.

Dean and Sam.
Classic brotherly moments which, to me, are priceless. No matter how the episode is, one of those little moments saves the show every week.
I adored Dean in big brother protective mode. He was with Ruby, he was when Sam told him he wanted to become more like him. The look on his face was priceless, his reaction was like wtf lil bro? What do you think you are doing?
And Sam? While he annoyed me a couple of times, because I do not like how he deals with some things, well he was the little brother, aiming to become like his bigger one.
Sam still thinks about Dean as a hero. It is not in their everyday life, or in what Sam normally does or says, is in this little glimpses of how much Sam is bonded to his
brother, of how much Dean has always represented for him. His father and mother, his brother and protector, his teacher and his savior. Some people in the fandoms complain because Sam doesn't show enough how much he cares. I complain about his unsensitive actions sometimes, but I would never never say that Sam doesn't love his brother.

So this is turning point episode imo, for Dean. Next one should confirm my theories.

I don't believe ONE SINGLE WORD Ruby said. I hold to my theory that she's, if not Satan or Lucifer, a MAJOR player. Beelzebub or Mephistopheles or someone. And the same goes for the other demon we saw. A BIG player in hell - and that's why the Colt did nothing. I think she lied to Dean, I think she and that Demon were in cahoots together, and I think it's ALL a ploy to bring Sam into the fold. I think they were just trying to get Dean to trust Ruby so that Sam would be more easily corrupted.

(I could be so wrong that it isn't even funny, lmao, but that's what I think.)

Jared help me, I was getting into a bit of Dean/Ruby, and OH GOD I hate that Cassidy girl, but... I would not be averse to seeing some Dean/Ruby. Yup.

I loved how SAM went all "big brother", although I did NOT like him having to leave Dean dying on the floor in order to do it.

Which leads me to think it was all Ruby's plan. Try to warn them off in the beginning to gain their trust when it all goes to hell. This was she can be all - Not only did I try to stop you from going, I saved Dean's ass and then came to save Sam later.

Fucking BRILLIANT, if that's what's going on.

Dean won't ever be a demon - I REFUSE, dude. It does not compute LMAO. It's like, Vampire Buffy. Just... please no.

But I can totally see Sam and Dean being led around by Ruby until Sam goes evil - like he nearly did by going in there and killing 2 innocent humans, which he was fully prepared to do.

I really liked this episode. I love witchcraft stuff so this was cool.
I think the colt didn't kill her cause she was overly powerful for it and was able to stop it.
Ruby was alright in this ep. I just really dislike Katie Cassidy, so it's making me dislike her character.

I was nodding this whole post. The maggots didn't bother me as much as the teeth scene though. Sure they were gross but, I just have this fear of dentists . I couldn't watch that scene.

Best line the whole episode for me was the black eyed skank line Dean said to Ruby . I was laughing so hard.

I can't wait to see the last episodes now. This episode was really a turning point in the story line and it's a rather interesting one no matter how much I don't like it.

Mi ha fatto ridere che dicevi che la percezione cambia. Giuro che ho odiato Sam tutto il primo anno. Non proprio odiato, ma mi veniva di sbattere la testa nel muro ogni volta che apriva la bocca.

Io ho amato questo episodio, anche la parte delle streghe, perche' tutto quel sangue e vermi, troppo forte.

La colt non l'ha uccisa perche' lei ha fermato il proiettile. Sara' interessante vedere cosa possono fare.

Adoro leggere il tuo review, perche' vediamo lo stesso episodio e pero ediamo cose completamente diverse.

Non so se Ruby ha detto la verita'. Sono piu propensa a credere che abbia detto cio' che avrebbe convinto Dean, cosi come ha detto a Sam quello che lui voleva sentire. Non so se sono convinta che ha il bene dell'umanita a cuore o solamente che vuole vincere in una possibile guerra.

Dopo questo episodio, credo ancora di piu che sara' Sam a salvare Dean, perche' e' l'unico che ha un interesse. Dean non lo fara' perche' non rischia Sam anche se non vuol morire.

Dean = ♥ forever and always

Ruby has added an amazing new dynamic to the brothers and so far I think it’s playing out nicely. The first encounter between Dean and Ruby was FANTASTIC! Dean’s actions were perfectly in character (it made perfect since for him to draw on her straight away! The fact that it took him so long to actually meat the girl added to his suspicions about her not being trust worthy.)

I totally agree with you that Sam was very childlike when he saw them together. Think about what he was feeling. He knows Dean isn’t always the easiest person to get along with especially when you have someone or something like Ruby. It’s almost as if he was introducing two of his friends that he knew wouldn’t get along. No wonder he was quiet!!

Everything with the witches was entertaining and I enjoyed it, but like you, I’m more interested in the overall arch of the story. I think your right about Dean becoming a demon being his deal breaker. This little piece of information is going to push him into the direction of fighting. Now I don’t think he’s going to go looking for a way out but if he sees an opportunity he’s going to take it. But all of my speculation is up in the air because you never know what curve ball Kripke will throw!!

Wouldn’t it be ironic if Sam wasn’t the one we had to worry about becoming evil and running the demon army? *raises eyebrow* What if the only way Dean could get out was to join them and use the fact that he could create some order as justification?...

I swear I can see kripke grinning maniacally and shouting for more maggots during that one scene! I oculdn't even watch, just closed my eyes and told hubby to tell me when it was over.

up until last night I hadn't decided one way or another about ruby - we had hardly seen her at all up to this point. but then she kicked in that door and told dean to quit calling her bitch, and then the catfight... so yeah, ok, she's pretty awesome. she won me over - for now. but if she doesn't save deans ass (although he would be the hottest demon ever!) from hell, I'll never forgive her!

I wanted to go online during the episode and squee! That's how much I LOVED this epi. But hubby didn't get home until the last 5 min of the ep so I had ;) to rewatch it with him.

I've liked Ruby better than Bela all along and I don't have any real problems with Cassidy's performance, so I loved this ep for fleshing out her character.

If Ruby was lying to Dean, she deserves an Oscar, becuase I never really believed her when she told Sam she could save Dean (I hoped, but didn't believe). Of course, that could just be bad acting on Cassidy's part...

It's an intersting twist about her origin and that she doesn't believe in the devil. I can't WAIT for more new eps...the writers' strike SUCKS!!!

and this is why i'm not speculating any further than what i've seen and heard about. there's only three eps left, and then hiatus until S4.

i know spec drives me nuts, so i'm just not going to, is all.

and as i said in my journal, canonically speaking, Dean is the hero, the good guy. and while i can make him a vamp or a Dark Hunter in my fic? not so good for the show.....

No sam non lo sa e secondo Ruby i demoni erano umani e non angeli, ma questo contrasta con qunato detto da VCasey in sin city.

Per questo second me, non ci si deve fidare molto di lei.

Diciamo che io la vedo una cosa possibile, ma proprio non lo voglio percheè evil!Dean eè così out of character.

credo che molta gente ce l'abbia con Kripke perchè fa dire a Ruby che Dean non si puo' salvare. In realta, secondo me, Ruby non può salvarlo non in generale.

Diciamo che sono un po' torn sulla plot line...vedo tutti gli scenari come possisbili e questo rende Kripke un genio!

I totally agree with you!! I mentioned some of the same thing on my LJ LOL I mean this conversation between Dean and Ruby was kind of a glimpse for Dean to know what was about to happen, also the fact that both Dean and Sam have given up on saving him mean, IMO, that he is going to actually die and become a demon, probably a hardcore one specially after all the suffering of his life and probably a really powerful one, but when the battle comes he'll have to fight Sam and then in the middle of the fight he'll remember his human side, he'll remember Sammy and the things he used to fight for and will turn to the good side just like Ruby did. Ok too much imagination in on reply LOL

I liked the episode. Not my favorite, but it was good.
I think Ruby has an agenda and that's not very good for the Winchesters. I don't trust her. She lied. Maybe she lied to Sam, maybe it was to Dean or maybe to both. I dunno. I think she's more dangerous than Bela, because she's playing them to get something in the long run, while Bela tends to put them in danger for something she wants now. Besides, Ruby clearly interfears with their relationship and nothing good ever came out of that.

One good thing is that now that Dean knows he'll become a demon as a consequence of his deal he'll probably start considering doing something to get out. I don't think it will be enough for him to actually do something because he's still scared that it might end up killing Sam, but it is definitely a turning point for him in that regard. I think right now he's considering the possibility and something else will push him into actually doing something.

I don't think there are two kinds. I think that the Demons have made up this mythology for themselves to explain how they came to be. Sort of like the Creation story in the Bible. If I remember correctly, in Sin City the Demon also said that there was no actual Lucifer ruling them. She painted him in a returning savior type role and that would go along with their whole mythology.
