Very interesting interview with EK and SG about S6 and Dean's role in S5.

Eric speaking about Dean's role in S5. It sounds like a provocation but it really seems to me that EK has been a little bit disconnected from his character.


Towards the end of the season, Dean’s importance in stopping the apocalypse seemed to have been dropped in favor of Sam. What would you say to that? Did viewers interpret that wrong?

Eric: Everything is open to interpretation. Far be it from me to tell fans what they think the show is. It’s for them. I can just tell you what it meant to me, which is that the show is and always has been about family, from page one to page 5,000. It’s never been about one brother or the other. It’s been about the relationship between the both of them. For me, it’s a yin-yang thing.

Salvation of the planet depended on both of them acting equally, and had Dean not decided to sacrifice himself and go to be with his brother because the love of family and the relationship between them trumped all, and had he not learned to forgive his brother and love him over years of experience on the show, then he never would have gone out there, Sam would have never seen him, he never would have seen the car, and he never would have had the strength to take over his body and save the world. That was a two-man job.

So, he played the role he was meant to play?

Eric: Yeah, and it was one that he never would have done in the pilot, but learned to do in the finale. To me, that’s what it’s all about. But, as long as they’re watching, people can think whatever the hell they want.

QUESTION: How did Jensen Ackles perform in his maiden voyage in animation?

ANDREA ROMANO: When you get a first-timer in the booth, there are
often risks involved, particularly in understanding the techniques
involved in working with the microphone. Jensen picked it up so
quickly and was so effective in this very difficult role. Red Hood is
written as such an embittered, angry, verging-on-insane character, and
it can so easily be overplayed. But Jensen found just the right level
of energy and flair. I loved his acting. His quality was dead-on, and
he really offers a perfect balance with Bruce (Greenwood).

As a director, you live the emotions with the actor. There’s one scene
where Jensen has to let his emotions completely bubble to the surface.
I had to work really hard to see my script through the tears that I
was crying with him as he let his emotions come through.

According to an interview at E!, Danneel Harris, said her newlywed husband Jensen Ackles was spending the day at the hotel spa while she walked the press line at the NBC Upfronts. That must be why he looks so well rested in this series of shots. Love to know what caught his attention that set off this sequence.

Heck, any series lasting six years is a heck of an accomplishment. Ackles — a native of Dallas whose notable previous roles were on Smallville, Dawson’s Creek and Days of Our Lives - understands how fortunate he is in that regard.

“I was just talking to Josh Jackson (currently of Fringe) who did six years on Dawson’s Creek,” Ackles said. “He goes, ‘You are moving into your sixth season (on Supernatural), aren’t you?’ And I did the sixth season of Dawson’s Creek with him.

“I said, ‘I remember you guys (on Dawson’s Creek) were just champing at the bit to get out of there.’ He said, ‘Yeah — are you about ready to be done?’

“And I’m like, ‘No, I’m not, actually.’ ”

I can't wait for the finale. I have tons of speculations, I have been thinking a lot about all the characters...I love the boys, Cas, Crawley...Bobby not so much, but I still love show to bits.
Oh and the Impala...who knows if she will survive???
