-Alaric is alive, of course. People was freaking out about Davis leaving the show..I don't see this happening anytime soon.
-Damon being Alaric best friend!!! *loves*
-Elena was harsh on Damon, seriously...maybe a little too much but she was right...if Damon keeps pushing away everybody, he would end up alone. And he doesn't deserve it.
On Elena's part...Damon was being so cocky and snarky I would have slapped him myself.
-Flashbacks: it's pretty clear that Stefan missed Damon and that Damon was still hurt, but deep down they wanted to be together again. They have so many issues to work through.
-Damon and Rebekah exchanging sexy looks...me likes!
-So much Damon/Stefan...they will get there eventually...they are so close to re-bond.
-Meredith is obsessed...seriously. She must have some hidden agenda.
-Can I have more Damon/Stefan/Rebekah? D/E/S is about love, but D/S/R is about lust, double-cross, teaming up, being vampires, distrust...it's more fun!
-"Judgy"!!! LOL, very judgy Stefan...
-Let's try not to judge Damon/Sage from a human point of view. Of course hearing her saying that women are not just for food, but for pleasure was all kind of wrong...but they are vampires, they have needs and they can decide how to make it work for themselves. So I am not bothered at all.
-Stefan is a little edgy...
-Sage was in love with Finn...omg he's the only Original I really don't like. Could have it been Kol?
-Oh wow Damon was back...in his own way he is helping his brother and Rebekah is tagging along.
-Damon is pushing Stefan so hard, because he needs to learn how to control his craving for blood. He just needs this, he needs self acceptance and to be able to control himself and his needs.
-Bad timing ever Elena. I don't even know whether she was more disgusted with Stefan or Damon...but she will get over it quicly.
-Oh Stefan please..please...it's because he loves you, he did this to you. He is helping you...little brother.
-Elena...she loves vampires because they can never die...and what she says about Damon? She basically said that she loves Damon without saying it...but Matt said it for her and said it about himself. Oh Matt, I love you so much.
-So basically the point is that Damon can control himself since forever, while Stefan has never been able too. While Stefan was the one to turn Damon, Damon was the one who kinda started the ripper path for Stefan. Don't get me wrong, Stefan is totally responsible for his actions and his choices, but I am pretty sure Damon feels responsible for not being there to help his little brother and now he is trying to amend. To be there for his brother. To be Stefan big brother, so that Stefan can heal and find that self acceptance he so desperately needs.
-BONDING...OMG OMG BONDING....Damon...Stefan...this is all about them. No Elena, none but themselves and their being brothers....awwwwww my boys, my awesome, screwed brothers!!!

Characters.
-Alaric and Alaric&Damon
He is the killer, apparentely. The ring is controlling him. That's a nice twist. Not a real shock (because I don't get easily shocked), but I didn't see this coming, not that way. Btw Damon was right in 3.04 when he said that something was wrong with Ric's ring.
Now I hope Alaric let his friends help him. I was happy to see that the one who was called when he got jailed was Damon. Ric might still have this annoying attitude towards Damon and vampires, but he does love him.
-Meredith
So she connected the dots and understood that it was Alaric behind all the deaths. Still on the fence on her character, but I liked her better.
-Matt and Matt&Elena
I just love this guy. He has lost pretty much everyone he loves but he is still the most awesome friend Elena can hope to have. He was just there listening to her, comforting her and not judging her because she loves vampires.
-Sage
I liked her. She is a real BAMF! Now if people get started to complain because she taught Damon how to feed with pleasure, I'll start screaming...the same people who keep saying that Eljiah and Klaus are the best characters ever..as they have never killed people...double standard much? oh well none is on my flist, luckily. Btw missed the Originals bros (everyone but Finn).
Back to Sage, I want to know more about her and her relationship with Damon.
-Rebekah
She is awesome. Witty, cocky, badass. She's also in desperate need to have someone who cares and loves her. She needs attention and tender loving care.
I loved her interaction with the Salvatores and all the dialogues between her and Damon.
-Elena and Damon&Elena
I think Elena is really starting to question her feelings. She was harsh on Damon, but she hit the mark and I think she pushed him to understand what he really needs right now. I still think she has no right to be mad at Damon and I don't think she is, but I understand the rift between them. Both of them think the other has given up, both of them know their feelings are all there and they need to find a way to deal with them. A healthy way, which includes dealing with Stefan.
-Stefan and Stefan&Damon
How much do I love the little brother? Too much. Seriously. I loved him in every scene in this episode. I loved the flashbacks. How he tried to re-bond with Damon, how he completely lost it when DAMON pushed him to drink human blood again, how he ran away and refused his brother's help. The look on Damon's face when he realized that Stefan was not able to control his fury broke me. Damon was scared and worried at the same time. Most likely, he also felt guilty for being the one who pushed his brother to become the Ripper. As I have already said, Stefan is the one responsible for his actions, as much as Damon is for his, but in the parallel between Stefan turning Damon and Damon pushing Stefan to drink human blood again, each brother has good reasons to feel guilty for screwing up with the other.
So this episode was all about them remembering and bonding again. Find a way to feel that affection they used to have for each other.
Everything Damon did in this episode in the present was made to save Stefan, because as Elena said, it's their love for each other that will keep them alive. I am glad that Stefan fought the hunger because he didn't want to fight Damon. I am glad he came back with the journal. It was his way to tell Damon that he had understood and that he wanted to be helped, he wanted to be brothers again, not only two people who happen to share part of their life.
-Damon and Damon&Stefan.
Damon loves. Period. He has done more declaration of love in this season than in all his life. He started with Alaric, then he told Elena out loud, then to Stefan. He is honest about his feelings and despite everything, he talks about them.
As Plec said, the beauty of Damon is that it doesn't matter how much he tries to step back, when someone needs him , he just can't help and comes back. This is why for me Damon is the core of the show. He keeps everyone together.
What he did for his brother was awesome. What he did say to Stefan was priceless. Stefan needs his big brother and Damon has finally arrived to the point where he can let his anger go and he can be what he used to be, just the brother Stefan wants and needs.
This is such a huge step for Damon.
He doesn't need to stop drinking human's blood. He is a vampire, he lives with it. He doesn't deny it. Here Damon is a step ahead of Stefan. Damon might not like who he is, but he accepts it. Stefan is not there yet.
What Damon needs to learn is that love doesn't mean being self destructive. Love brings happiness and trust, not fear and darkness. Damon needs to learn how to love healtly. He needs to understand that he is worth to be loved because he is a valuable person. Self-respect it's what Damon needs to learn.
Oh show, I LOVE YOU! I don't even care I thought it would have been more focused on the flashbacks and how Damon became who he was...I mean what they showed was enough for me. The brotherly relationship is what I want on screen all the time :))))

Hmm, I don't think it was Damon's. She only had time to get the one vial and she used it all on Bill. So whose blood was it? Part of the mystery that's Meredith that I don't trust.
While I was reading your theory about the balance I thought about _Faith and Appointment in Samarra too. I guess we do share a brain and yay for colliding fandoms!
