Two years ago, Kim Manners left us. He is still missed.
R.I.P.

WTF CAS? Seriously? Will talk more after the episode, but seriously you should have known Dean's reasons better. You could have killed soulless Sam by yourself.
Now I only wait for them to kill Lisa off.
My problem with this season is that the whole "soul" main arch doesn't work. They want to talk about a very important thing, they want to point out how much important soul is, they have Balthazar, Death and everyone saying that a person is a person only when he is body and soul and then they make Cas act like he doesn't really understand the importance of the soul???
Come on...the sould arch is a very important one, it deserves some consistency.
raloria and
force_oblique, I send you big hugs, since you are both having a not nice time.

Date: 2011-01-25 08:44 am (UTC)As for preview you know what i think. They're killing Cas and Dean-Cas and they do this on purpose. because if they'd have even one brain cell they'd know that cas just couldn't say shit like that. It makes no sense. At all.

Date: 2011-01-25 09:55 am (UTC)Yeah..let's kill everything good in Dean's life.
Tonight I dreamt Dean...he was dead. Ring any bells???

Date: 2011-01-25 09:07 am (UTC)This is my main issue with S6 aswell. Umm yyyeah, maybe y'all wanna focus on the fact that Sam's soul was IN FUCKING HELL BEING TORTURED FOR ALL ETERNITY, instead of worrying about Robo!Sam walking loose.
I'd rather have him out of hell and dead and in heaven, than rotting in hell.
Also that quote about "if you wanted to kill your brother, you should've done it outright" makes no sense whatsoever.

Date: 2011-01-25 09:53 am (UTC)I don't knwo how long you have been around here, buut I honestly want more for Sam that jsut being the guy we all have to worry about.
Plus I was really baffled by some fans reaction to soulless!Sam. I don't think you have to defend a character always and forever. I mean, that was Sam without filters...I think soulless!Sam was the worst part of Sam with all his flaws amgnified and I have seen people defending him even when he couldn't be defended and wanting him to be like that forever, forgotting that SAM WAS IN HELL SUFFERING!
I didn't like they went this route in 5.22, but they went and I dealt with it. Dean didn't have choice. Any other hunter would have killed robo!Sam because he was dangerous, Dean couldn't. Dean thought about Sam's soul in Hell because he, of all the persons, knew what it was like.
So, as I wrote in one recnt post, Dean was the only one to care about Sam's soul..apparentely not only in the show.
Yeah that quote doesn't make sensen if you consider all the reasons before. Reasons Cas should know.

Date: 2011-01-25 10:13 am (UTC)I miss Kim. I think he'd be proud of them - and he would have made Robo!Sam a bit better methinks.

Date: 2011-01-25 10:50 am (UTC)Seems more something about Cas's issues than Dean wanting that (becasue duh, he did that because he didn't want to kill robo!Sam, though it's there that they were headed had Dean not found a way to bring Sam's soul back into his body), and lashing out at the first available target because things are not going well in heaven - and you know, Castiel IS killing his brothers in the war (we've seen him and we've seen his regret) and doing those regrettable things we know nothing about so far. It seems to me that something is brewing in regard to Castiel's character and his journey and how he relates to Dean. At least I hope so.
So, my WTF Castiel is tempered by the hope that something else is going that will be explored soon. He's been bitchy all season, after all. :D
As for the matter of Sam's soul, Castiel's hardly an expert and his perspective is showing here. He can't know why a soul is so important because he's got no one. He can't understand why a being who cares about nothing, has no emphathy and no feelings but those tied to his self-preservation is only partially human, hence partially Sam, not!whole, the best parts missing: emphaty, love, the ability to make human connections and establish meaningful relationships, and in the end make informed decision about himself. With all the harping that's being made on the importance of souls and how precious they are, I find that Castiel dismissing it as 'that thing' is supposed to show us how angels (and Castiel IS an angel) don't quite get it.
Without getting into: eternity in the cage >>>>> than any damage Sam could soustain in his human life. At least, you know, even if Sam dies, the immortal part of his self is not in the cage.
Fanwank? Hm, maybe. But all this clip did for me was, apart from the first depressing thought, affirming how Dean's been put in a terrible position where only he was able to make an informed decision for the sake of Sam. He'll bear the brunt of that, too, like he's bore the brunt of all his decisions.
Not that I'm not expecting others stunning and unforeseen revelations about this. But, you know... it is what it is.

Date: 2011-01-25 10:58 am (UTC)He has given importance to souls and what makes people human since S4.
So this is OOC for me. It's IC that Cas has issues in Heavan and I am sorry for it, but everyone who has issues in this show keeps putting them on Dean and I am honestly sick to see him considered as a punching bag.
Agreed on Dean. He didn't have a easy way out.

Yes. this HAS to stop. The show is abusing the trope too much. It's stuck everybody at an empasse and it's making me mad on behalf of Dean, of course.
Though, I'm mostly surprised at how people consider a character's truth the ONLY truth when it's just not. Bobby, Castiel, Sam, or Dean say something, it's not the truth written in stone. It's just their opinion.

Date: 2011-01-25 02:41 pm (UTC)Yeah, I need the how soul arc to be over, cause I really didn't get on board with how they dealt with it. Too much inconsistency and blatant contradiction. I get that Cas is angry cause he's worried about the consequences, but seriously dude, give Dean a little slack. Surely somebody needs too.
*Hugs you*

Date: 2011-01-25 04:22 pm (UTC)As for the clip in question, boy, I ranted with like-minded fans about this last night, and it's gotten me to the point where I think I'm finally done with this show. And I hate feeling like that, especially about a stupid TV show, and I really hate giving up having come this far.
And from what I understand of the next three episodes that were filmed before the hiatus break, Sera was pushing her more personal fangirl interests and agenda to the detriment of any kind of a story, not to mention the one actor/character who isn't her favorite. When Jensen said he thinks things have gotten better for him now, he was talking about when they returned from hiatus, well after 6:14 was in the can - and maybe even after 6:15, which is the meta episode which was already written and scheduled to film.
Maybe "the studio" finally had words with Sera over the holidays, who may be titillated by her vision, but which has not exactly gone over like gangbusters with anyone else, actors included (especially Jensen). I don't know, I hope so for Jensen's sake, and Misha's too who doesn't deserve for his character to be turned into a complete douchebag. Plus, she's not a big fan of the Dean/Cas relationship, so I'm sure she's been itching to crash and burn it.
I don't know that I'll be watching anything before 6:16 (the western?), if I even come back to the show at that point. I hate giving up before I fly off to LA in two weeks to see Jensen and the gang, but if this were any other fandom I was involved in - and I've been through this before - I'd have walked away and stopped watching ages ago. It's not worth it since it is just a TV show. But I may have to wait and hear if things finally get better for "Dean" after the next three or four episodes.
And if they get a seventh season, I hope someone else is put in charge. Sera has proven herself completely incompetent in the top dog position. She's a good writer, but she needs to have someone else calling the shots. After the end of season five that made me so angry, who knew I'd actually start to miss Kripke. ;)

Date: 2011-01-27 07:14 am (UTC)In regards to the preview I clicked on it eagerly and by the end I was staring at the screen in absolute horror. I have never fully forgiven Cas for beating Dean so severely back in 5.18 and this just destroyed any points he's earned since then getting back into my good graces. I loved Cas in Season 4 and for his character to take a turn like this, well, as far back as Season 5, is soooo sad. Some of Cas's characterization I understand as part of him falling, but come on! Talk about a pessimist! And they all wonder why Dean wanted to say yes to Michael! *growls* Bobby was bemoaning his loss of the use of his legs, Sam was scared he'd say yes to Lucifer, and Cas gave up completely when Joshua said God said to back off. What was Dean supposed to do!?!?! Seriously people, quit putting all your crap on Dean and keep expecting him to stay there for you to do so!
Yes John trained him to do that in part, and part is Dean's own protective, loving nature. I know most folk didn't like her, but I wish Lisa was still around!
Wow, sorry about the rant. *blushes* This clip though, it just destroyed the slight kindling of hope I had for the show. I know I won't be able to watch the episode live and I'll definitely be stopping by to read your reaction.
Also, I'm sorry I haven't been around lately or commented more. I wanted to, but RL has been a bear.
Hope you and you family are well and safe!
