How are you? I hope your weekend was good as mine. Busy and tiring but I spent a lot of time with friends, my brother, Diego and family. So it was good :)
Back to our usual SPN business!
I think 5.13 told us some very important things about the boys and their destiny.
1-
"It's a bloodline."
"A bloodline?"
"Stretching back to Cain and Abel. It's in your blood your father's blood your family's blood."
It's not about Mary, not about her family. They became hunters for some reasons, but it's not for this reason the Winchesters were cursed.
It's about John. It's coming from his family. I think this is an important revelation. It gives John a place in the mytharc.
I also think we have to see it from Kripke's mythology point of view. Kripke takes hints from many religions and mix them all.
2-Dean and Free Will
I think men have free will, that's why if Dean will say yes, he will do because he won't have any other chance.
I wasn't expecting Michael to say we have the right of choosing, I think it was another way to try to manipulate Dean.
Michael left Dean without hope againg, he broke him again, but he won't have Dean so easily, Dean will fight hard. Dean's good at heart and if he will say yes, it is only because he won't have any other choice. I so see Dean doing it to save everything.
I loved that in this episode there was everything that made me love Dean so much: his family love, his sense of duty, his questions. Everything.
3- Sam vs Dean?
If there is not free will and whatever they do, will lead them to say yes, are we going to see Dean vs Sam?
If one say yes, will the other be forced to say yes too?
4-John and his boys.
I love John. Especially now that we got to know him better.
I loved Sam had the chance to tell John how he felt and I think Sam did it for himself, because he needed to find some peace, but he also did for John, so he could know how much sam loved him. It's a pity John's mind couldn't remember those words.
Dean feels the same about his father, Dean loves and respects his father as he has always done. The only thing different thing is that now both Dean and Sam see John for what he is: a father who loved them and tried his best and that at the same time, made mistakes and hurt them. Not because he wanted, but because it did happen. I still think John had a choice, and he made his. I don't blame him for this. I just think we should all just accept that John was a good flawed man.
About Jensen... his acting in the emotional, intense scenes, is never about screaming, every single emotion Dean feels is delivered with grace. It's all about the nuances, subtle changes in his facial experessions, in the tone of his voice. I guess this is why I love his work so much.
