...yep I think about the show. I miss SPN, I miss Dean but...not really excited about the show at the moment. Thoughts under the cut.

I've kinda lost interest in the show right now. In the show as it has been for the last few episodes. We have had 10 episodes and I remember just three of them: The End, Changing Channels and Abandon All Hope.
The first two had very good stuff so yeah, let's say I enjoyed a lot them as well.
What's my point?
I have always watched SPN more for Dean and Sam brotherly relationship than for any other reasons. Now I watch the show for the mythology, hoping to see Dean and Sam interacting with other characters.
Why? Because this way I can see something new.

I think this season could have been the best one. They could have explored the complexity of their bond and the wounds that have yet to be healed.
They could have talked about their issues and about their feelings and they haven't. So far there's nothing new in their relationship, so far they are stuck in a condition where they are still. Unable to go on, unable to heal and so really distant.
[livejournal.com profile] smilla02 was right when she told me she saw them not close at all in that "Abandon All Hope"scene, when they were talking about going to meet Lucifer.
I thought they were close, but they weren't. They had simply accepted that things were going like that. They should have stayed on their own longer.
I have just rewatched all the most meaningful episodes and I haven't seen an enrichment of their relationship. So far.
"So far" are the two words that still keep me tie to this show. I have the hope things are going to change, I want to think they will make Dean and Sam justice. They will give them something. At the moment there's nothing I haven't already seen.

I also think they are not brave enough. If you throw a mythology like the Apocalypse in the show, you have to deepen it, the new characters need screen time, need a story, need interaction. Aren't they using Castiel with Dean as they used to do because they are afraid it could damage Dean-Sam time? They should have thought about it in the first place.
You can't add a great character like Castiel and then not using him at all. It's mortifying.
You can't have Lucifer and not spending more time with him.
I understand the SPN it's not and ensemble show, but the characters, when they are good, deserve time, deserve a history.
The writers can't just create them and then kill them or, and it's worse, forget them.

So yeah I have hopes, but I lowered my expectations a lot about SPN. Anyways I still trust Eric Kripke :)

Totally agree. I'm like an old 33LP stuck on the same track...Joooohn ;)

But yes, it's like, they (TPTB) touch the surface, throw interesting curved balls, but then...never look deeper. It's frustrating.

you post a sunday it's rare. Look my last post. im sorry that you feel you as that for the show. i enjoy always . for their relationship for me they need of time. dean need of time to be close of sammy . Too much of things in the season 4 for dean . sammy abandonned of time of more and for dean it's too much. It know what his mum was a hunter, the mistakes that she made , his dad had a other kid , sammy with ruby . dean don't want of this family who isn't never here for him. dean is what for them .
you will like to have more of cas dean and lucifer sammy?
i think that the writers scared of scene emotions or they don't want of such scenes.

for me at the end dean will can to abandon this family and have his life, work for the angels .i think that dean haven't the feelig that his parents , his bro love them.

in the 422 the scene sammy mary was hard. Think her that of dean?

I had few minutes before going to a concert.

My point is exactly that, they need time but the writers are not addressing their issues at all.

No I don't want more of Dean/Cas and Lucifer/Sam. I want more interaction between the characters and I would like to know more on Lucifer and Castiel.

*nods intently* I agree a hundred percent. I'll keep watching and probably enjoy it on an episode by episode basis, but I'm not expecting any big payoffs at this point. :(

I have to admit you have a very good point and i agree with you. I don't trust Eric and i'm not interesting in that so-called bond anymore but i still have some hope for the future. If the theory of my friend is right we'll get an awesome second part of this season. It doesn't mean the first part was good (for me it was too short and included 501-504 and 508 with 510) but the season is still salvageable.

I don't feel so bad now becuase I thought I was the only die hard fan who suddenly just didn't feel that connection anymore. I miss the old SPN desperatly. I miss the boys and John. I was so excited about this year and the apocalypse and the boys struggle to get back to eachother emotionally and it's silly ep after silly ep w/end of the world thrown in here or there and doesn't even seem like the boys care much about mending their relationship and thats heartbreaking. I also thought what a bonus having Misha added to the cast and as you said they barely use him or even Bobby really this season. It made me sad to realize later that when my cable was off for "Abondon All Hope" I was more excited that I got the opportunity to watch Fringe as it aired than I was upset about waiting a week to watch The fall finale of SPN. I'll never give up on Dean and Sam or Kripke but yes I already feel like i'm mourning the loss of the show and that's very sad.

You know, I don't miss the boys. I mean I am happy with what they have done to their bond because it needs to grow up. It can't be stuck in the same old condition.

I am not happy with this season because they are neglecting all the good stuff.

*hugs you*

I have to agree.

They once again have skirted around a lot of the big stuff. They give us taste of what could be then only address it on the surface.

I thought they got off to an awesome start, but lost the momentum in the middle with a few too many light hearted episodes. I still really enjoy them, but the ones that I go back an re-watch again and again tend to be the heavy, dramatic ones. They are the ones that I get the most from, the ones that gives us the wonderful glimpses of what their lives really are like.

I just love Castiel's character and I feel that as you said they are too scared by the awesome chemistry that he and Dean have. I think they have let the fandom dictate too much what they will and won't do. That makes me really sad, but they is a really good reason that the majority of the fandom aren't in tv production, BECAUSE THEY WOULD SUCK AT IT!!

I trust in Kripke, he has shown me many times that he can be brave and pull awesome stuff out of his backside, so I'm hanging in there hopeful that he will pull through for us all in the end. :D

There are a lot of bullshit episodes this season that pull away from the angels. I've accepted that there isn't much Sam-n-Dean now, so I'd like to see what Lucifer's been doing while Sam and Dean are attending fan conventions. I'd like to see how Gabriel reacted after all the drama went down.

Ya know what really bothers me? Sam and Dean spent their ENTIRE LIVES fighting together. Basically, two freaking decades, side by side, and this is all it took to break them completely? I don't BUY that. If you're that close, that important to each other, your entire relationship doesn't die over one or two things like that. Sure, the issues at hand are HUGE ones, but if they were as close as we all believed they were, it wouldn't cause such a rift. So that leads me to believe that they were NEVER as close as we all assumed.

And that bothers me.

So now? Show me some more Lucifer. Let's see what's up with Michael. Give me a snippet of Castiel angsting in a church somewhere, broken and afraid. If I can't have the boys we all fell in love with, give me something else to love. Don't give me these broken shells of Winchester when it looks like there was nothing substantial there to begin with, because it's very sad, and mama don't like it.

I think they have been together for their whole lives basically because they were alone in what they did and still do.

They love and have always loved each other, but this doesn't mean to be close.
I hoped for a new start of their relationship where everything come together.
They share the past, love, guilt, responsability, worries but they haven't learned yet how to deal with being themselves.

The writers should have spent more time on Dean AND Sam. If this is not wht they want, give us at least something else.

i guess after 4 years we are all tired, btw I still love the show and the characters.

I sort of agree with you, however; I do believe the fandom is to blame for the lack of Castiel. (those who are against him)

I don't care for the guy, but it doesn't bother me when he is on screen as long as he is given something useful to do... Otherwise he gets called Useless. LOL

See- The writers, and Eric were all for Castiel this season, but the out spoken half of the fandom. The ones who worry Castiel takes screen time away from Sam or that Sam suffers. Or that Dean and Sam suffer from Castiel, once again got their way... They don't want Castiel in the show... So Eric has started to remove him and not use him as much... (make sense?)

As for Lucifer well we had more of him than Michael so far.. We've gotten his connection with Sam and inside his head...

It's time to see Michael.

The problem with Supernatural is Eric listens to much to the loud minority... He needs to just tell the fandom to F off and tell his story...

As for the comedy this year; I've said it before and I will say it again. Most likely it has to do with the CW not wanting a dreary Apocalypse.. Because Eric did say the network wasn't thrilled they went there. So in order to be able to do it, they, had to compromise...

So between the network and the fandom, SPN has fallen victim to it's own success.

*sighs*

I agree with you about Castiel and honestly I don't like how Kripke listen to some part of fandom. The ones who scream are not the majority. Taking off time from Dean and Sam is not the problem of this show imo.
We have had 5 episodes with Dean and Sam but they were useless imo mithology wise. They didn't add anything to their relationship either...so what's the purpose? It's no time for S1 episodes :)

I didn't know the CW didn't want the Apocalypse. At least I have an explanation now and it helps to understand why we had those episodes.

As for fans, well he should just stop listening and tell his own story.

Let's wait and see. I am pretty sure I will love the second half of the season :)))

agreed! i'm definitely not as hyped about SPn as i used to be. it's not just us though - most of the fans are very merh about SPN and what they've done this season. i think they've kinda ruined the series because there isn't enough depth anymore. still, i'm here for the ride and hope it takes us somewhere interesting ...
