Hi flist, how are you? I'm ok, just busy and a little tired. Will catch up with you tomorrow but at least I managed to watch the last episode :)

I really enjoyed the episode and I love where SPN is going.

I wish I could be more coherent :)

-Castiel
I loved the interaction between Anna and Castiel. How she tried to open his eyes, how he was about to fall and then he refused to doubt.
Castiel is an awesome, complicated character. Doubts, fears, questions. He is like Dean. He doens't have easy answers anymore. He's not sure anymore. The way he talked to Uriel and Anna, his feeling so alone and ready to disobey, makes him so special and more able to understand humans. With Anna leaving him alone, Castiel had to find his way to deal with what was happening, just like Dean. He did and now he iscloser to the human beings he is supposed to protect.

Castiel vs Uriel
Uriel being the one killing the angels was a great idea. So much in that scene. Betrayal, love, faith, devotion...each of them fighting on a side, thinking to be right. But only one was.
Just like Dean and Sam.
I see the same conversation between the brothers.

Castiel and Dean.
Their relationship is getting stronger. They can fight, discuss, disagree, but I think in this moment they are bot together in this. While Dean and Sam are parting ways, Castiel and Dean are getting closer. Castiel is learning to see things through Dean's eyes, while Dean can only rely on Castiel for some answers.
Dean was the first seal to be broken, so he started everything, now he is the only one who can finish it. Guess because he is a beautiful soul.
The last scene between them broke me, because they were both broken, lost, alone.

-Dean
I loved every second of him in the episode. From the discussion he had with Uriel to the end, broken, tired Dean.
Torturing Alaistair? It didn't bother me. Dean was blackmailed...do it or go to Hell again. Uriel didn't say it but I guess it's what he meant. The angels played with Dean, his sense of guilt and responsability. Could really Dean refuse when Castiel said it's their only chance? No, for everything he had been taught during all his life, he couldn't simply say no.
I also think that there were so many mixed feelings in Dean when he was in front of Alaistair. He was having the chance of a payback, doing to the demon what he had done to him and I find it human, wrong maybe, but human.
Iloved the whole scene of the torture, what Alaistair said and how Dean reacted. New Dean? Less human? Maybe...Dean is both innocent and guilty and he knows, he chooses what to do and he pays for his choices. He never runs away.
I think he enjoyed torturing the demon while he was doing it. Then I think he regretted it, as a lot of the things he did in Hell.
Dean won't ever be the same. It's like a soldier who is fighting his last battle. He has nothing left to lose.
Alaistair revealed he was the first seal. This will burden him forever. De facto he was the righteous man who shed blood in Hell, this can't be changed. A good man turned in a cruel one to save himself.
Can Dean be blamed for this? I don't think so, but Dean will take the burden and live with it. He would be destroyed eventually but he won't run away. He would be tempted, but he will fight and even die for it. I guess he thinks there is no hope for him.

-Sam
He didn't believe Dean was strong enough to get the job done. He could be right but the point is that he wasn't against what the angels asked. No moral walls. Alaistair had to be tortured. He would have done it. No matter what the implications are.
So Sam is a demon blood addicted...It's time Sam stops to give moral jutification for what he does. It's time he learns to choose and accept the consequences of what he does without trying to justify himself. I don't balem him for drinking demon' blood, even though I think it's terribly wrong, I just want Sam to admit what he is doing without hiding. I want him to face Dean and tell him the truth, even if Dean will disapprove it. Sam has to come clean. He hides because he fears Dean's reaction? Sure, but imo he does because he is not totally convinced that he is doing the right thing. Either way, he needs to grow up. I am sad but I think that his reasons are not only saving the world, are more about him and how he feels. The sense of power he feels.
So clear when he was tortuting Alaistair. I have to say I don't agree with Sam's choices but I do love watching his evolution. I have the feeling this is going to separate him and Dean for a long time but I think it's needed and I think it's fair to Sam character giving him the chance of exploring what he really his.

-Sam allowed Ruby to call him Sammy...it was annoying but I don't think this need an explanation.

-Misha was awesome... and hot.

-Jensen was brilliant, he still amazes me with his talent. Oh yes...he was superhot!

My personal idea about where SPN is going? Dean and Sam fighting, their relationship destroyed and S5? About redemption, for both of them, about rebuilding themselves and their bond.

I have to say I did enjoy seeing Sam be somewhat protective of Dean again. I totally agree with your review and love your idea for season 5. Misha is just wonderful and I love seeing him and Dean together, helps fill the hole a little left by Sam and Dean being so far apart.

Yes Castiel feels the hole. They are there for each other, even though Dean can not like it.
