It's funny, while some fans are complaining about Jensen's acting, both in the premiere and this episode, we see more people in the business praise him for his talent.

This makes me smile :)

I wasn't a big fan of Ben, or as I call him, mini-Dean. At times he seemed too much Dean to be real, and at others, he seemed too cute to be really all that Dean. Still, Dean's reaction to this kid, perfectly epitomized by both Jensen Ackles' acting as well as Gamble's script made it all worthwhile.

From the TV guide one:
• I would've liked to see more Winchester-brother moments. The brothers in this episode seemed to be in two different places emotionally as well as physically a lot of the time.
I think they were. And I think it's obvious they are. They are adjusting to this new situation. They need time alone to build up a new balance. Sam needs to tell Dean the truth. Dean needs to focus a little bit more on all the "weird" beahviours of his brother.
They just need time.

I think it's because the fans that are complaining like to bitch about everything. Jensen's performance rocked last week, he so OWNED Dean like he's been doing since early S1 and if people didn't see it, then they don't understand Dean, the show and the S2 storyline because what happend last week was EXACTLY what should've been Dean's reaction.

The same can be said about this week's performance, it was Dean all the way. NOBODY owns a character better than that. Jared comes very close but I see Jared in him sometimes and I havent had that with Jensen yet. Dean acted like Dean acts and at the end of the ep we saw a little glimps of what Dean really thinks and what goes through that head of his....and it's gonna set of this season perfectly!

I wasn't put of by Jensen's acting it was as good as it always is...wonderful. Just not liking that the boys a so separated and that Dean doesn't seem concerned about the escaped demons and their danger to Sam. It is odd watching his detachment? from his brother. I don't like that direction of of the writing it is taking away from the dynamic I love. It seems sort of like two separate stories now...Dean's and Sam's. No longer Sam & Dean's.

Also if Sam keeps this secret about their mother for too long,if Dean finds out by accident, that is going to push them apart even more. *iz worried for my boys*

I do agree about the acting.

About the boys being separated, I'm not fond of it either, but I think it's fuctional to the development of their storylines.
They are adjusting to the new situtaion.
I think Dean is not worried because he doesn't consider the demons a danger for Sam. I'm pretty sure he will be back to his protective mode once he'll find out about what Sam is hiding.

And he has to talk.

They can't possibly expect Dean to not change over the years. He's not the same guy we saw in the Pilot. He's gone through too much to be that same happy-go-lucky character. He's hardened and cynical. You can't go through the death of a parent and not be changed...I know that first hand.

Sorry about the rant, hun. It's just...some of these fans are so irritating! Is this happening at a certain comm? I thought I saw you mention one in an earlier post. I think I know which one you're talking about. *Sigh* Why can't we all just love the show and enjoy it like in the old days of S1.

I loved those links, especially the TV Guide one. Thanks for posting them. As for those so-called fans, I don't think someone's a fan if all they do is bitch and moan about the show. I can understand not liking a certain aspect or character or whatever, or engaging in rational and reasonable discussion about the show where some people have differing opinions, but bitching for the sake of it is not a fannish thing to do. So I refuse to call those people fans. They're wanna-be's.

I really don't see how anyone can complain about Jensen's acting...I think he was great, and even Jared seems more at ease with Sam than he was in the season finale (when he was angry with Ruby *_*, much better than that bitchface he made while he was shooting Jake that made me laugh out loud)

About the brother apart "thing"...Well, I just hope the introduction of Ruby (and you know who but if someone who reads this comment isn't spoiled I won't ruin it for them ;)) as a regular won't make this a status.
I'm quite hopeful, btw. It's not like the first time the brothers are apart on the screen - "The Usual Suspects" seems to be forgotten by complainers, even if it came after the "Dean&Jo show!" episode aka "No Exit" - so I don't get the point of some people talking like it's some new route the show has taken and wants to keep it for the whole S3. Pessimistic much XD?

had to comment here. i was one of the ones who for the first 12 hours or so, after i watched the S3 season opener last week, was totally confused & upset by the way dean acted to sam. BUT at the time, i was stating all along that either jensen, sera, & kripke were geniuses or jensen just wasn't on his A-Game.

mostly i was asking for people who had also seen the S3 opener to please explain some things to me. i was confused, and upset by that confusion. within that first day i got enough information and enough time to think about it that i saw that the glimmering hint shining in the back of my mind WAS the right thing: that jensen, sera, and kripke are all collective geniuses.

in my mind it's ok to go thru this from time to time. it doesn't mean i think jensen is anything less than the GOD that he is (and i *do* mean that literally). it's a testament to how much his acting totally wows me that he totally knocks me off my pins sometimes.

i hope this clears up a bit of the mist. i never meant to imply that jensen's acting was permanently down. i just couldn't see where it was all going at first, and that is MY shortcoming, certainly not his.

and a big thank you again to everyone who helped me come thru that day. fandom is the BEST.

Honey, of course you can think Jensen is off sometimes, I do too, so it's not you I was talking about.

Unfortunately some people around keep saying that he is always off because Dean it's not the one of the last season.

Of course he's not and Jensen is adjusting his way of acting to the new path Dean is following.

IMO people can say they don't like this, but not that Jensen is not good in acting anymore. This doesn't make sense.

wow... really glad i haven't seen but maybe one or two posts to this effect out there, and they seem to be real whiners.

some people just don't want anything to grow or change. that's their loss, to me. some of the changes i see coming are a bit scary, but i do trust that they will be all right or even wonderful when we find out what they really are.

it's sad when people forget how important it is to support this show, and don't appreciate the hard work or even the talent and creativity that kripke, jensen, jared, and all the staff are capable of. and the fact that it's entertainment, not real life.

i think that keeping sam & dean apart while they work a few things out will only make it have that much more impact when they do finally come back together. no one can live totally within another's shadow.

Seriously, people who are complaining about Jensen's acting have not really been watching the show. He's at least just as good as ever. I personally think he's better. The way he expresses Dean's emotions is just wonderful, it sucks you right in and makes you really feel what the character is feeling. I've said this a million times and I'll say it a million more: I love how he changes expressions subtly. A change in the eyes, a simple sigh or a lip bite are enough for us to know how Dean feels. He doesn't need to rub it in our faces. That subtlety allows us to see that there is something more to what Dean is feeling than what his actions are showing. He's been doing it from the start and is just getting better and better.
