Things I loved of this episode:
-the beginning, showing Dean and Sam living their own life.
-Dean telling Cas: "we're driving"
-the girl named Chastity
-the scene between Cas, Dean and Raphael. It was powerful.
-Sam fighting.
Dean and Cas:
Loved the interaction. Cas is not going to replace Sam but they are a cool team. Cas getting used to some human habits made me laugh.
So now things are: Cas is alone now, the only person who can help him is Dean. Dean is his usual self. It's nice to see how he is trying to teach Cas how to live in the human world. The scene in the bar was funny and Cas was terrified.
I loved loved to see Dean smiling again when they ran away from the bar, but no matter how much he tries, that feeling is always there.
Sam is not with him and even though he was, things couldn't be the same. Not yet.
The big question is: is Cas manipulating Dean? Maybe. Dean knows? I think he does. They are playing the same game and both of them are using the other one. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I like Cas, I would like to know more about what happened to him. The look on Cas face when Raphael told him God died...how he felt lost. He reminded me of Dean so much.
Dean and Sam:
I can live with them separated. I miss the team Winchesters but they need time far from each other. They miss each other.
I enjoyed to see Sam being honest with himself, telling he did mistakes. I think the show should have addressed more Sam feelings after jess death.
Is God dead? Did Lucifer raise Cas? Who is fighting on which side? What's Dean and Sam role besides the one we are seeing now?
It was good to see the boys making choices. Dean hunting and helping Cas, Sam trying to figure out what's wrong with him. Btw I wonder who is blessed? Who is damned? Is Dean because he is Micheal vessel? Is Sam because he is Lucifer vessel? I think it's up to them. Dean refused to be the Micheal one, Sam has to fight not to let Lucifer win.
Dean and Sam are in this war together. No matter who started it or who broke the last seal. They are bonded, hey have to fight together because only together they can stop the war. Only together they can save each other. So boys heal, recover, put the pieces together and come back :)
One more thing:
I know some people won't like what Dean said to Cas about his family. I understand why he did. In part it's because he wants to force himself to have fun so he has not to think about Sam, but mostly is because he needs to find his own way to live in this world. No more chained in that unhealthy way to his family. He 's not repudiating Sam or his love for him, he's just starting to be aware of the fact he can live his own life..
He is like Sam was when he left the family for Stanford. He did because he wanted to live his life, no matter if his family needed him. I still think Sam was wrong there but I also think he had the right to do it. So has Dean. Both selfish, bot human.
ETA
As a April pointed out, will Sam tell Dean about the vessel?
