It's Saturday and I am at home, just relaxing. This is weird. Saturday is usually crazier than the rest of the week :)
I'm posting a lot these days, sorry to spam you...anyway I just want to tell one things: some people on my flist were asking me if my new crush/show/whatever is becoming more attractive than SPN. I think I have some friends scared.
Don't worry Val is here. With her Dean/Jensen love stronger than ever.
Anyway, the answer to that question is yes and no.
Yes if we talk about the show. I am loyal to SPN but I am afraid of what they are going to do in the second half of the season. So I worry about the show. I don't worry about TVD because I like it the way it is, flaws included. I don't ask, I don't claim. I just enjoy it like this.
I am more inclined to forget and forgive mistakes in a new show than in a one I have been invested in for so long. Screw up with Dean Winchester and you screw up with me as a viewer too.
So far they are safe. Dean's integrity is all there, even if he is stuck. Let's see what they do with Sam, who I wish I could see to evolve.
Random question: have you noticed that in S6 the only person who really cared about Sam and his destiny was Dean? Castiel, Lisa, Bobby...everyone had more important things to think about than Sam. So if Sam is back and if he is safe, it's only because of Dean. Because Dean careds, It's sad, that Dean is alone is a given, but Sam? Maybe he is even more alone than Dean. He has scrwed up his realtionship with everyone and if Dean is still there, it's only because Sam is family and Dean can't let go.
*cuddles the Winchesters brothers*
Back to the question: Dean is here in my heart and mind, untouched. My love for him is ridiculous. Seriously he is a fictional character but that's it.
Jensen is there too. I've been following him for 11 years, none can replace him so fast.
So don't worry. Anyway I have room left for other characters. I was kind scared that none else could have make me feel good watching a TV show as Dean does (even when he breaks me), but I found another one.
I am in love with Damon, he is that kind of character that gets to me slowly but when he does, he becomes one of all my all time favorite. So Damon is there and will stay for a long time.
The actor who portrays him? I saw Ian Somerhalder in Lost for the fisrt time and liked him a lot. Then I stopped to watch Lost after S1 and never thought about him again. I guess I was just too busy with the SPN fandom.
Now, since I am curious and wanted to know a little more about him, I browsed the internet and I stumbled on his site (http://www.isfoundation.com/) and I read his twitter.
I was hit hard.
His love and passion for animals, wildlife, enviroment are mines. His resolution to actually act is one of my dream and so wow I was admired. He was the first celebrity to become actively involved in the cleanup after the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster and he’s also involved with the It Gets Better Project with tries to prevent Suicide among LGBT youth.
They guy knows how to use his popularity and his fans love him for this.
I don't know much else about him but he seems to push all the right buttons to make me fall. So yeah I have fallen:)
That being said, change of topic. This post was meant to describe what hooks me up when it comes to an actor or actress.
I will talk only about three people: Jensen, Ian and Lauren Cohan. Just because they are fresh examples.
When I started to watch Dark Angel on the Italin TV, I fell immediately for Jensen's acting and for the Italian voice of his dubber. Seriously I could hear that voice millions times and it always gave megood chills.
When I heard Jensen's one for the first time, I was surprised to hear how much deep and mature his voice was.
I think the most compelling moments in Jensen acting for me are connected to how he is able to play with his voice. To crack on some words. To break on some others. To whisper them or yell. them. When he plays angry, his voice becomes low and hoarse. When he breaks, it's almost a whisper.
I love how he just pronouncesthe words of his lines.
This along with the eyes. Jensen talks with his eyes.
Ian does the same thing. I love, love, love his voice, it's sexy and deep. I love how he uses it when he acts. I love when it cracks, when it breaks. When it's just a whisper or when it's angry. Just like the Jensen's one.
Along with the eyes too. Those eyes are made to lose yourself in them. Just like Jensen's ones.
Lauren...I don't usually develop girl crsuh but that girl, wow...I have loved her British accent since Bela day 1. She has this damn sexy voice, very intense and she knows how to use it. Her eyes too.
So yeah, voice and eyes are what I see in actors/actresses. If the don't do anything for me, they can be the prettiest people around or the most terrific actors on the planet, we just don't click. They just leave me indifferent.
It's all about the voice..and the eyes :)

Date: 2011-01-08 12:09 pm (UTC)because you totally share by brain when it comes to this!
I was with Jensen as you are with Ian. I first saw Jensen in DA S2 and thought wow you are good, but then it was done and that spark was lost to what was happening in my world. Sadly I can't remember what that was now!:P Years past and I didn't see him again until my hubby of all people (I'm sure he regrets it now!) made me watch this cool show about supernatural stuff that he knew I would love. He had to convince me to watch it, I was a bit skeptical about this weird concept show. Thankfully I ended up listening after he bought the 1st season on DVD and made me watch some with him (which he RARE allows me to do, I talk to much apparently!). That first episode Jensen grabbed me and I was like, hey hang on a minute isn't that the guy that played Alec! And my obsession with the man was born.
I hadn't seen Ian in anything before TVD so his was new, but those eyes had me intrigued right from the beginning and I had to get to know this character. Then I watched him evolve his character into the broken tortured soul that Damon is and I was hooked!
You are so right, the voice, the eyes, they draw you into the depth of the characters soul and grip you tight so that you can't do anything but hold on tight for the ride.
I love Lauren Cohan's accent too and it was fun hearing the difference in TVD of Rose compared to Bela. I was very sad that they didn't develop Bela until her very last episode. It hurt that no one got to know why she did what she did at such a tender age. How could she have made a informed decision at that age regarding her soul? Even though Dean teased her about what it could be that drove her to the deal, he would have been heartbroken by the truth and would have helped her and helped her change her ways to see the good in people again and to trust. *sigh* They are going to kill Rose on us aren't they? I will cry I just know it, especially with how it will hurt Damon. Man I need the new epi now! I love to have this feeling again for a show.
Like you Dean and Jensen will always been in my heart and nothing can change my deep abiding love for the character of Dean Winchester. He is my favourite character of all time and is the first character that I have been able to write and feel that I have his voice in my head. It doesn't always come out on paper but I know him like I have never known any other. I hope that one day that will be the same for Damon too.
We are so lucky to have so wonderful actors providing us with such beautifully rich characters. I feel privileged to be able to watch their wonderful talents week in and week out. :D
*Hugs you tight*

Then I watched him evolve his character into the broken tortured soul that Damon is and I was hooked!
WORD!
Now if you can also get to know Ian a little more (via his twitter or site) you would fall for him even more.
You are so right, the voice, the eyes, they draw you into the depth of the characters soul and grip you tight so that you can't do anything but hold on tight for the ride.
Jensen and Ian do that for me. And I am usually picky.
It hurt that no one got to know why she did what she did at such a tender age. How could she have made a informed decision at that age regarding her soul?
Don't get me started on how much stupid the writers were.
he would have been heartbroken by the truth and would have helped her and helped her change her ways to see the good in people again and to trust.
This!
They are going to kill Rose on us aren't they? I will cry I just know it, especially with how it will hurt Damon. Man I need the new epi now! I love to have this feeling again for a show.
you and I both twin sis :)
I think Damon will get there. He has potential and Ian has the same intensity Jensen has.
Love you

Date: 2011-01-08 02:01 pm (UTC)Oh all I meant by this was that the way you found Ian was like it was for me with Jensen! We most definitely have room for both of them! :D
I know, it has a very good heart doesn't he. It always makes it easier to love them when they are good people as well as good actors. He's a very compassionate person who is happy to use the vehicle of his success to motivate others to do the right thing. His is similar to Misha like that, though Misha is a bit crazy about it! :P
This so very, very much! He does indeed, it is beautiful to work just as Jensen at work is. *sigh* We are so lucky aren't we? :D
Love you too hon.

As for Ian, he is more level headed and with a big heart too.
He's a very compassionate person who is happy to use the vehicle of his success to motivate others to do the right thing.
This may make me fall for him forever.
We are hon, we are :)

When I really like a show, I will watch it whenever it is on, including repeat episodes, and I'm just not there with TVD. Haven't watched it once during this hiatus, but am looking forward to new episodes.

With TVD is all just like a cool fresh game and Ian is just the kind of guy I can only respect (see my reply to jeandean in this post if you like).
SPN and JENSEN are there. Hold close into my heart. They own me.
No worries Cindy :)))

Date: 2011-01-08 07:45 pm (UTC)I think a man with a deep voice is so sexy! If a man's voice isn't deep, it totally turns me off. A deep voice is masculine and confident.
I'm going to check out Ian's twitter. How cool that he uses his status to help animals and the environment. The more I know about him, the cooler he gets.
I try not to read too much about Jensen's RL because he is such a private person. I think that is the most respectful thing I can do for him. I like that he is private and doesn't want to be in the spotlight or on the pages of gossip magazines. It shows a maturity and sense of self a lot of other actors that started young don't have. I think he is a really good person. :-)
You are awesome. I love that you are now enjoying TVD and we have more to talk about--and it's upbeat with no stress or depression/worry what the insane writers are gonna do next! And with Ian it just doubles the pretty! They are a nice contrast to each other, don't you think?
Yummy!

About Ian, just read my reply to jendeana in this post. I found out some more things about him and yes, he is compassionate, caring, loving.
I agree with you about Jensen. I love his being so down to earth and humble.
Exactly about TVD. It's just fun :)))

Date: 2011-01-08 10:48 pm (UTC)Also the very reasons you are falling more and more in love with Ian are the reasons I have always loved him so much. The reason some actors can get into my heart so completely is the kind of person they are in RL and Ian is a wonderful, compassionate and caring person. He is genuine just like Jensen and that owns me.
Eyes and voice are always the first 2 things that grab me too. Those that can display so emotion with a look or a tone of their voice own me.

Date: 2011-01-09 12:27 am (UTC)At first I watched TVD for the pretty because it is a very attractive show but then it improved and became plot driven and much more exciting but and I’ll admit I began to ache a little for Damon and found myself fighting his corner and wanting good things for him.
I didn’t watch Lost and my first introduction to Ian Somerhalder was Smallville but I was too blinded by Michael Rosenbaum at the time to really *see* other characters even Jason Teague so he passed me by until TVD and even then I thought he was just another pretty face but like you the more I learn about him the more impressed I am by his humanity and ability to care about the world we live in and the animals we share it with.
And I love his portrayal of Damon because like Dean he drew me in with the bad boy vibe but as time went on we got glimpses of his emotions which made his character richer and more believable and essential if we’re to connect with his character, to care for his character to give him emotional depth and complexity.
The word emotion derives from the Latin emovere, which translates as: to excite, to move, to stir or to agitate and Damon does all that and more as does Dean.
I’m almost scared at just how much respect and admiration I’ve garnered for Ian Somerhalder the more I learn the harder I fall.
But yes Jensen is safe and there’s room in my heart for more than one love and Ian’s personality and his ability to be humane just draws people to him and I’m like a moth to the flame.

Date: 2011-01-09 02:21 pm (UTC)Word!. Damon is the character I can connect to and I know this is going to get worse and I am going to wish him something good but I will hurt because he is the tormented, tortured, doomed one. I so want to see that smile a little bit often!!!
I didn't watch Smalville, just the irst season and then the fourth because of Jensen so I had no idea Ian was there too, but like you said the more I learn about him the more impressed I am by his humanity and ability to care about the world we live in and the animals we share it with. .
I will reply properly to your email asap, sharing my thoughts on his way to be with ans and people around him.

You just read my mind honey.
Ian nails it :)

Very well put and I agree.

Again, I am with you. We are in love and we don't have to be scared of it.
We have to embrace it because this ability to feel passions is what makes us good persons, it's what allows us to enjoy of the little things this life gives us.
I think we should consider us lucky for this. Ian just fuels the fire, being awesome as he is :)

Date: 2011-01-09 03:07 pm (UTC)Random question: have you noticed that in S6 the only person who really cared about Sam and his destiny was Dean? Castiel, Lisa, Bobby...everyone had more important things to think about than Sam.
This is an interesting and very true fact of the season, and it kind of goes hand in hand with the claim I've seen put out there before that Sam in general is only relevant because Dean cares and props up the character, thus, making him relevant. Take Dean out of the equation, and Sam is unimportant and fades away.
Which I think is true, but also speaks to the schizophrenia in the showrunners' favoritism, the writing and the plotting, when you stop to remember how much Kripke and Gamble often try and push the notion that Sam is the only hero and lead on this show via a lot of telling, and very little showing, and how they really can't make that statement fly on screen at all without Dean, which thus negates the very idea they were trying to sell about the world revolving around Sam.
It also in large part proves the point that Jensen specifically, and other actors too, often act against the writing and the showrunners' intent - I think Jensen has been doing that since season one, which is why "Dean" is so popular and relevant to the series, and how no one else could now or ever have played "Dean".
But think about the scene when Lisa is dumping Dean (*sob*) and telling him he'll never be happy as long as Sam is the focus of his life. I believe Sera's intent with that line was to give Dean a good reason to no longer be with this woman, and to make her sound like a bitch. The problem for Sera, however, is that too many fans feel this statement is true, but worse, Cindy Sampson didn't deliver the line as if Lisa was a shrew, but instead couched it in genuine concern from Lisa for Dean, which sold the line as a truism. An example of acting against the writing and the showrunning.

Date: 2011-01-10 09:18 am (UTC)I haven't left the SPN fandom. Hiatus is making me nervous. I will be in full Dean mode soon.
Anyway this Damon thing hit me hard and it was unexpected. Seriously. I just like it and want to enjoy the ride...and I will corrupt you *nods*
Sam in general is only relevant because Dean cares and props up the character, thus, making him relevant. Take Dean out of the equation, and Sam is unimportant and fades away.
It's sad but true imho and I blame the writers for this because they haven't been able in almost six years to give Sam that developing he deserved. They haven't been able to make him a compelling character.
how much Kripke and Gamble often try and push the notion that Sam is the only hero and lead on this show via a lot of telling, and very little showing, and how they really can't make that statement fly on screen at all without Dean, which thus negates the very idea they were trying to sell about the world revolving around Sam.
That's their main problem, they keep telling it and the show the opposite and the truth is that at the very end, Dean is the hero of the show.
If I had be a Sam girl, I would be really pissed off.
Watching the show with canon eyes and not fanon, what I see it's a constant contradiction and a show that would work with Dean only, but not with Sam only and I am saying that being sorry, because I want a two brothers show.
I think Jensen has been doing that since season one, which is why "Dean" is so popular and relevant to the series, and how no one else could now or ever have played "Dean".
He doesn't waste his chances and always does a great job, he is passionate and Dean is the result of it.
I don't know if this was Sera purpose, buut if it was, it failed.
I want DEAN NOW!

Date: 2011-01-12 09:23 pm (UTC)We don't write the show so each fan would like what it desire for dean, for sam. What miss me more of talking between the boys, that they of their feelings, how they love each other, that sammy see all what made dean for him, more of sex love for my dean and that sam don't abandon anymore dean, don't hurt anymore but good i adore my dean vulnerable and hurted. I think that it's for this reason that i love so much the show for this dean very hurted, vulnerable by his father, by his brother, his sacrifices for them, how it loved his mother.
I would have like something between bela and dean.
jensen have a fantastic talent with his look in first and his voice. Ian is good but very far of jensen. And jared now arrive at something of fantastic with the gentle sammy and the evil sammy, cold.

Date: 2011-01-13 09:09 am (UTC)I just don't like that they have dropped so many good storilines and they have killed so many good characters. I don't like they let the fandom influence them.
I adore Dean as I have always done. I can't wait to have him back
For me it's not a matter of who is the best one, it's a matter of what they make me feel. Jensen is stellar for me because I can feel what Dean feels. Ian makes me feel what Damon feels and so does Paul Wesley with Stefan.
Sadly Jared doesn't do the same for me. We haven't clicked. He doesn't make me feel anything of what Sam feels. He used to until the end of S4. Then nothing more.
