Here an early review from Eclipse magazine.
Thanks Sara.
Reactions and quotes under the cut.SPOILERS.
Like the novel this episode derives it’s title from, the second episode of Supernatural season 4 deals with Dean Winchester’s questions about God and why God has chosen Dean to be yanked out of hell by the Angel Castiel and given the task of ‘doing God’s work’.
In this episode, Jensen Ackles turns in another stunningly perfect performance. Ackles hits every emotional mark and comedic nuance with seemingly effortless ease as his character of Dean Winchester grapples not only with his ‘why me’ questions, but with issues that are forced upon him by the circumstances of other events in this episode. The last scene between Dean Winchester and the Angel Castiel is an amazing body of work between Ackles and Collins that left this viewer with chill running up and down her spine.
The other thing that makes it worthwhile is the presence of Nicki Aycox as Meg Masters. Though I am a bit at a loss as to figure out why most of her story line and action is done opposite Dean Winchester instead of Sam Winchester, Aycox and Ackles have an onscreen dynamic that ignites the screen with energy. Nicki Aycox rises to the challenge of this new variation of Meg with ease. She once again proves why, for so many Supernatural viewers, Meg Masters and Aycox’s acting in the role has set the standard of excellence that other females characters in Supernatural are often judged by.
-Just in case someone forgets, Jensen rocks and Dean is totally his thing :)
-So Castiel is back.
-I want to know if Sam knows about him and what he thinks.
-I'm not the only one who doesn't like the new Ruby. I am just sorry this creates problem to Jared's scenes.
-I love Meg and Dean interaction. Really I still have in my mind the interrogation scene in DT.
-I just hope they are not screwing with Victor. I mean he deserves more time and more interactions with the boys.
I can't wait to know more....is tomorrow morning yet????
Thanks Sara.

Date: 2008-09-25 12:58 pm (UTC)Always on TWoP CiaraCobb was a host(not sure if it's the right word) on the TIH Q&A in London and she post:
"David Mackay in the Q&A after the first London Screening (which I think should be on youtube), he did indeed go commando under the kilt/skirt."
Ora i kilts sono di lana. Io non sopporto la lana sulla pelle, mi fa venire un prurito incredibile. Io avrei passato tutto il tempo a grattarmi o sarei stata arrestata x oltraggio al pudore!

But at Friday on the other hand life is shiny treasure :) And we all know the reason.

Date: 2008-09-25 01:17 pm (UTC)I just hope they start doing something interesting with Ruby soon... if she's just going to bring down Jared's scenes then I'd rather have her gone altogether, and that's saying something considering how much I loved Ruby in s3.

Date: 2008-09-25 01:23 pm (UTC)I liked Ruby too and even Cassidy interaction with both Jared and Jensen. In the premiere the scenes with Jared and the actress were weak imho and not for Jared's fault. I don't know if it is for the actress or for the character but so far, I don't like her. She lacks in something.
