ETA:PICS POLICY
In the post below I said this:
I took pics of him and I felt a bit like I was stealing a private moment. I'm not even sure I would actually post them.
extremefangirl replied this:
I can't love you more for that sentence. Please DON'T post them. Leave that moment to Jensen in private. We had him all day and that should be enough.
Sara agreed.
I made my decision, those pics (not every one of them) will stay private. If you want to see them, let me know and we could arrange it, but I won't put his face in an open blog. I respect him too much.
I hope you could understand.
ETA 2
Just to clarify, I WILL POST THE PICS JENSEN and I TOOK TOGETHER (for a hint, look at my icon), just I want them in hig res and my scanner isn't working. So I took photos of the pics and working on them to make them look ok.
Let's go on!
This is what Jason wrote on his blog about the concert and Jensen.
There are few things more gratifying for a musician than hearing a crowd singing along with you. Now multiply that by 700, and add an amazing week with friends in the UK. It was fantastic. One of, probably THE, best crowd and most enjoyable show to date. I have no recollection of set list, order, or anything I may have said between songs, (save the sharing the microphone comment, which apparently was pretty funny, :) but I can say I remember very specifically how amazing everyone was. The entire week was great. We arrived in London on Wednesday, and I must say it is an awe-inspiring city. I was constantly reminded of Eddy Izzard's joke, "I'm from Europe, you know, where History comes from..." funny but true. "old" takes on a completely different meaning in Europe. It did rain most of the week, but being from sunny SoCal, it was a nice change of pace. I felt fittingly pensive most of the week. We were pretty busy, but next time, I definitely want to save a couple hours to sit in Hyde park with my journal and see what comes out. I was definitely inspired, but I also didn't have time to take my guitar out the whole week, except for sound check and the show! ok, back to the show... what can I say? It was one of those shows where when I finished I wanted to start over and do it again. I'd say one of the highlights was a cover song. "your eyes" was a pretty fun song, because I stopped in the middle, taught everyone their "part" and sang the chorus again, along with hundreds of back up singers... They sounded pretty darn good too! My own worst critic, of course I have to say, It wasn't a vocally perfect show, but I was happy with it. I felt surprisingly comfortable, I think having played about 19 or 20 shows already this year really helped. I was able to relax and just play, not having to worry about the guitar or the words, I was just hanging out and playing some songs with friends. speaking of which, it's kinda funny, I knew people would be waiting to see Jensen sing as well, so I spoke to him about it earlier in the week, and he just said "we'll see." which I understood totally, it's tough to just jump infront of 700 people! when he got there before the show he gave me the negative, he was super tired, still a bit jet-lagged, etc, which, again, was fine with me, he had been working all day, I only had to work for the next hour. When I started "Crazy Love" I was trying to explain why he WASN'T going to sing, but it didn't work. lol. everyone just started clapping and screaming for him, so I looked over like, "sorry about that bud." but he came up and did his thing, and sounded great. ( i know ya'll couldn't hear him that well, but he was right in my ear and he was spot on.) so it was definitely nice of him to get up for everyone, and I'm glad he did. I'm also glad everyone had a good time, and I would really like to make it back to the UK sometime! maybe we'll make it a mini European tour next time!
To all my new friends across the pond, Thank you for your excitement and hospitality. I really enjoyed meeting all of you and look forward to playing for you again.
Jason Manns
This is what I saw and felt.
Sonia, Marica, Denise, Raffie, Rosy and I went in the hotel very early, when they were still cleaning the room and Jason was starting the sound check. We were the first ones in the queue and we were able to have the table closest to the stage.
We were excited since we all loved Jason's music, as much as Steve Carlson and Chris Kane. All the same gang, all Jensen's friends, but that's it. Jason wasn't new to us and we would have gone there even if Jensen wouldn't have been there.
Let me explain this.
During the Saturday Panel someone asked Jensen if he sang and he replied he actually does, for fun, with his friends. He said that he won't ever become a singer. He says something like "it's because of people like Jason that I won't ever sing". He spent words on how talented Jason is and it was clear he really loves him. He talked about him as one of his closest friends and pointed Jason out. He was on the balcony in the room. Jensen kept saying he only makes jam sessions with his friends and Jason screamed "Are you jamming with me tonight?".
Jensen made one of his embarassed faces and said "we'll see".
It was pretty clear he would have been there as well.
So back to Saturday night.
We got in the room and Jason got on the stage. He greeted us and started to sing. After a bit we spotted Jensen. He was in one of the reserved table, at our right, not very far. During all the concert I was able to see his reactions and what he was doing.
I filmed the concert and also recorded it, so I have to upload everything.
Jason was absolutely amazing, he joked with us, he asked us to follow the rhytme, he sang and played the guitar truly enjoying it.
During all the concert Jensen watched his friend, enjoyed the music, almost like he was with his friends, oblivious to 700 people waiting for him. He was totally relaxed, with his shirt out of his pants, the hat on his head, drinking his beer, singing Jason's songs, talking with Jason's wife and Wayne. I took pics of him and I felt a bit like I was stealing a private moment. I'm not even sure I would actually post them.
There were three great moments imo.
1-Crazy Love.
When Jason started to sing it, he was trying to explain us that Jensen wouldn't have sung, as he explained in his blog, but the crow went crazy and I saw Jensen nodding at him and coming on the stage.
Man, guys. It must have been tough for him. That was a private thing, that wasn't his job and he was so very shy and uncomfortable. At the beginning he was far from the microphone and his body language could tell you how much he wanted to be elsewhere.
Then it was like he forgot about us and he was dragged by the song. His voice became more audible and he started moving his head, his body, closing his eyes and he actually got the feel of the song.
I was there with Sonia, who adores Jason as much as me, and I cried. Yes, call me crazy, but I did because I realized that those two guys were just normal guys, great friends enjoying a "their" moment that they were sharing with us.
My tears were of happiness, because I'm naturally emo sometimes, and because, EVEN IF I CAN'T SAY TO KNOW HIM, he was like I was expecting. That was my prize.
When the song finished he ran away and sat down to his table.
2-During another song, Jason said: "J?", yes he calls Jensen, J, and since Jensen didn't hear him, he called him again: "Jensen?", inviting him to come up again. Jensen just looked at him and strongly shaked his head.
He left Jason his room and, even if I would have loved to hear him singing again, I know he did the right thing.
3-Great friendship
You could see how much those two boys are close. At the end of the concert, Jensen didn't run away. He got back on the stage and talked about Jason. He said his cds would have been sold later and on Sunday and that Jason would have been around to sign autographs.
He was there to help his friend to get more recognition and I loved it.
Jensen has always been generous with his friends. Chris Dowling could make his The Plight of Clowana thanks to Jensen and Jason got his chance in Europe thanks to him.
Jason thanked Jensen for being there in his cd and I'm so proud of these boys.
Looks childish? I don't care.
Friendship is such an important value that I'm grateful Jensen is such a great friend and that Jason is for him too. Jensen stressed this at the panel and he said he just tries to keep his bonds strong when he is in Vancouver.
I love it. So normal, so special.
So again, thank you Jason, because you were amazing and you stopped by to talk to me a bit, and thanks Jensen for being who you are.
That's all folks. Once I'll get back home from work, I should be able to upload pics and videos.
*hugs*
