First, missed you around. Second, I love your long review. Third, have you watched TVD? Because I need to vent about the last episode.
I guess I'm just getting whiplash from first Sam's lack of reaction and now his overreaction and panic/anger. I think that Sam also finds himself in a new place because Dean has never left him to make something on his own. It's like he is realizing that he is not Dean's only focus anymore.
If it is a form of PTSD, which I think it is, it needs to be addressed and explained and shown better. Because Dean's PTSD makes sense given what he has been through and survived. Sam's not so much. THIS!
He was very much in charge in that scene even as the two older beings in the group talked down to him. Like "I'm the leader, shut the f... up". LOL!
Whether that was due to fear of being trapped in Purgatory without getting out because he's an angel or because Cas actually wishes he were human and not an angel, it certainly has my interest. Very subtle but I think it was there. I guess Cas still thinks that if Benny has been human once, he shares things with Dean that he can't.
Of course, Castiel could also be jealous of the rough, but obvious understanding Benny and Dean have at that point even though they bickered and sniped at each other like we saw later in the episode. It actually reminded me of how Dean treated Castiel a first and how it took time before Dean fully gave his trust. I think it was a mix of both. He is jealous because of Dean/Benny rl and because he has never been human.
Heartbreaking indeed! And an interesting observation. Benny parallel's both brothers so far, what with Sam leaving and having a life at college with Jess and then Jess' murder by the demons. You rock, girl!
no more dangerous than an ANGEL having an existential crisis, me thinks. Cas kinda took the cake on that front with the mess he made. Amen.
Benny is his friend, and once Benny truly became that he earned Dean's devotion and support, not to mention determination to save/rescue him. Its all instinct for Dean. Which is why I love him so much. You and me both. It's Dean. It's how he shows that he cares.
