Klaus doesn't give a damn about his siblings...Rebekah is right. Stefan and Damon would die for each other. Klaus is not able to forgive his parents for what they did to him. He wants a family, but a family who obeys and doesn't question him. This is not being mature....I would have slapped him hard for the things he told to Rebekah.

Oh Klaus definitely deserved a slap and maybe a good kick in the nards too! Actually, Rebekah earned my sympathy by the end of the episode despite hurting Damon. Woman scorned indeed! Although she continues to come across as a teenager in many instances…anyway, I love how she recognized that the Salvatores would die for each other. Also, it struck me that she really does have a connection to both of them. Her hanging out and pestering them in 1912 was a testament to that (even if it was to learn about the white oak). Personally, I think that played a large role in why she let Damon go as a sign of good faith. She was there and participated in Damon’s act to get Stefan to start learning control. And the way Klaus spoke to her at the end made me sad for her. It’s not attention she seeking, as much as connections. Like Damon, she just wants to be loved and valued as herself. Being treated with kindness and consideration is something she is not used to and she always reacts very strongly to it. See how Matt’s consideration for her changed her mind about killing him or her response to Damon’s seduction in the last episode.

Back to Ric.

I like all your thoughts on him here. Personally, I wasn’t feeling it so much in-between him and Damon. Though it really did strike me how it was Damon’s words that reached him, whereas Stefan was purely bossing him around. Damon was too, but he was doing it in a friendlier way in that he wasn’t so absolutely telling Ric he couldn’t turn himself in. Does that make sense, lol?

I really loved how Damon showed his concern for Ric when he gave him back the Gilbert ring. “You’re going vampire hunting, Ric. Wear it” Not an exact quote, but close enough. I think that was when it really connected in Ric’s mind that Damon cares about him. And really, it was a good thing. Ric kinda got thrown around the stairs by Rebekah, poor guy. Overall though, Ric seemed largely subdued and distant this episode. Understandably. Okay, so maybe I did sense more then I originally thought lol. And alter ego Ric is now loose with an white oak stake. Complications! Yay! :P
