I am not going to talk much about Jeremy compulsion. Do I like it? No and Elena was wrong, period. That being said, I think that Jeremy must leave and wanted to leave but really couldn't without his sister going with him and the whole point is that Elena couln't be with him. As long as she will be around him, he won't be safe. Jeremy would have never accepted it, that's why I think Elena felt like she had to compel him.

This is exactly how I feel about it. :Nods:

"Friends don't strip friends of their free will". The show keeps pointing out that compulsion is not a good thing. For me, compulsion is part of what defines a vampire and I am not bothered much by it. I might not like the use of it sometimes, but it's like asking them to deny who they are. If compulsion is used by a human, well there I can see the moral issue...but honestly in a situation where everyone is just trying to survive, I think making wrong decisions to save people life, might be accetable. Asking for coherence and morality is licit, not accomplishing it is totally justifiable. They are, after all, human beings. I have to say that what some people don't like in some characterizations, is exactly what I like the most. I don't want a character that is always the same as itself. I want a character who evolves and adjusts to what happens, a character who acts and reacts and that sometimes goes dark and regrets it, but is aware of the reasons behind his actions.

I really have nothing to add to this, I just thought this was a really awesomely-worded thought. :)

Damon and Ric!!!! Humanity dimmer switch and small list. They love each other, they do *grins*

Yeah, see I wasn't feeling the love in this scene and Ric kinda irritated me because he's always being so mean and grouchy to Damon now. {pouts}

Anyway I seriously don't get Ric attitude. I mean I get it, but he knows they are vampires. He knows they can care about some people and not caring about others. It's not something that happens to vampires only. We, as humans, are ready to protect our beloved ones and be pretty indifferent to the death of an unknown person...or we can even be relieved if someone dies...so yeah...double moral standard much? Humans are good, vamps are not? This is so hypocrite, yet understandable.

Yeah, THIS! Come on, RIC!

Was Damon a little uncomfortable when Ric asked him about Elena?

I didn't think he was. I know others saw it, but I really don't think Damon realized anything off about Elena was because of him. :shrugs:

Loved the interaction between Damon, Carol and Klaus.

That was my third favorite scene of the night. SO AWESOME! I rewound it a few times.

Elena didn't say "I don't want", she said "I can't" because it's not right and she is right...it has to be about the two of them. It has to be because she loves him and not because Stefan doesn't want her anymore. Damon can't be her second choice. She is confused, but she knows her feelings for Damon are getting stronger. And Damon? I think he is happy with how the things are now, because he knows there is hope, because he knows that if it has to be, it will because Elena has chosen him over Stefan. Because he will be her first choice. Something good is happening in his life and Damon is not going to screw up with it.

Exactly, that's exactly how I read the scene too. :)
