Some highlights of what I liked the most.
-omg I can't even with this "you respect my choice thing"...it's bs.
It's not in a moment when you have to save the love of your life that you respect her choices. In that moment you have to act on instinct.
-OMG the memories...Damon...awww...my babe. When will we hear Stefan say something so good about Damon?
-Bekah!!! I love you girl and maybe I love her interaction with Damon even more.
-Tyler as a Klaus...I liked Trevino performance.
-Oh no Klaus didn't save Rebekah, he just left her there. He has to change, right now.
-I like that Meredith and Damon team up, but I don't like the way he treated Matt. It's not his fault, it's Stefans. I get that Damon needs someone to take it out on, but this is just not fair.
-Go Caroline!
-Bonnie hon, Jeremy is right. Dark magic is never good.
-Oh Stefan...his way to love Elena is so pure, but, otoh it's so not exciting and doesn't fit an eternity together.
-Klaus you son of a b...he is the most selfish and cruel creature of the whole show. Ripping out Tyler heart to get his body back. Cruel.
-Damon is pretty much always right, Stefan...damn you. Listen to him sometimes.
-While Elena and Stefan were talking and Elena was dying, my heart just broke for Rebekah...she just wants someone who loves her.
-Damon staked someone with a gun.
-Damon stop, it's not Matt fault, he is not Stefan. He is not guilty. Leave him alone. Actually both Damon and Stefan haen't been fair to Matt, who is already destroyed by the sense of guilt..but since it was Elena's choice, she is the one you all should be mad at. Then Stefan, because even though I found tragically romantic that he saved Matt life to respect Elena's choice, I also think it's pretty out of character for a person who claims to love a woman more than everything. So yes Damon might be selfish because he would have saved Elena, but he would have done it to give her the chance to live the life he couldn't live. To give her the life she has always wanted.
-How Damon froze when Elena told him that she remembered? OMG Damon, my poor Damon...and that "I am that selfish" line? The difference between Damon and Stefan is that Damon is resposible for his actions. He doesn't blame other people. He makes decisions and lives with them. I wish Stefan could do the same.
-Klaus you can go to hell today, you have no right to be like that with your own sister.
All in all a good premiere, I can't wait for more.

Yeah, it's not Matt's fault that he survived, but Damon is lashing out right now. He didn't want vampirism for Elena, but here it is. He's going to be pissed about that for quite a while.
Interesting that Elena never once considered, like Damon did, not going through the transformation and just letting herself die. She was hoping Bonnie would pull a cure out of her ass, but aside from that, when it came to the blood, she didn't hesitate to try and reach for it. She wanted to live more than she was worried about being a vampire.
There's something more going on with that pastor and his sacrificed flock. That's what you get, people, for following a fanatic. Intriguing.
Methinks Bonnie is going full-on darkside this season, sort of like blood addict Sam Winchester, though hopefully without the raging hypocrisy.
All in all, a solid premiere.

Yes Damon is lashing out, but on the wrong person. He should on Stefan...I think they will next episode and it won't be funny. My Brotherlybond heart is going to cry...
Elena is so much darker than everyone thinks. That's why i think at the every end she might be the right one for Damon, because she is not just the nice girl she seems to be.

Those flashbacks memories seen from an outsider Elena were so amazing *sigh*...Klaus is a monster who doesn't care for anyone and it pisses me off. I felt sorry for poor Matt and also for Rebekah

Quando ami una persona devi anche imparare a mettere lei prima di te. Non credo la scelta di Stefan fosse out of character. Ha rispettato Elena's choice anche se significava dover vivere per sempre senza di lei. Così come quando se ne è andato con Klaus e ha lasciato tutto quello che aveva per proteggerla anche se significava stare in esilio.
Damon, bah, c'ha sto finto buonismo di fondo che mi disturba. Sempre a metà tra ti amo ma non ti merito, ti ho incontrato per primo ma te lo faccio scordare, perchè tu devi stare con Stefan ma poi quando ci stai non riesco a rispettare la relazione. Non so, a volte preferirei che facesse decidere agli altri se è meritevole o no; oppure dato che proprio voleva sacrificarsi quando ha incontrato Elena per primo sul ponte e rinunciare a lei per "darla" al fratello, allora non sarebbe dovuto tornare a Mystic Fall a rompere le uova nel paniere affatto.
Praticamente Damon mi piace solo quando non è inflaccidito da Elena ecco. XD
Che poi troppo carini Elena e Stefan sul tetto. E' chiaro che quei due si meritano a vicenda. Perchè sono lame in love entrambi. Invece Elena/Damon.... bah! Non mi inspira niente.

Sfido chiunque nella realtà a fare quello che ha fatto Stefan. Inoltre non ha senso neanche dal punto di vista della scrittura. Stefan è un vampiro. Se invece di "discutere" con Elena sott'acqua si fosse sbrigato avrebbe potuto salvarli entrambi. Secondo me è stato solo un pessimo modo per ottenere quelo che volevano e cioè far morire Elena. Poorly written imo.
As for Damon we agree to disagree. Per me proprio non c'è buonismo nelle sue scelte e nelle sue azioni.
Ah non lo so...credo sia il capo del council con una agenda segreta. Perchè li abbia uccisi tutti non lo so, a meno che non sia stato compelled a farlo :)

Elena remembering was so well done. It was awesome to see her reaction on her present-day face as it unfolded to her. :)
Klaus was horrible and hateful and I'm back to really not caring about his character.
So many Damon feels in this episode. He was angry and bitter and needed to lash out, but also figured out a way to fix the horrible situation they found themselves in. I loved him working with Meredith & Liz. His anger was misdirected towards Matt but at least he didn't get the chance to follow through. His speech to Elena showed clearly how much he has grown. It's too bad that Elena can't accept that his wanting to keep her alive is a good thing.
ITA that Stefan & Elena's love does not at all fit with the concept of eternity.
I very much enjoyed this premiere and also can't wait until next Thursday. Sadly, that will be the last episode that I can watch live until the new year (as I'm starting a French class). :(

I agree with everything you said. I was surprised at how bad Klaus was and I don't think I can like him if he is going to break Rebekah like he did.

I was surprised by how good Michael Trevino was as Klaus. He was pretty bad in 3x22 but he must have practiced a lot before they started shooting S4 because he was infinitely better in the premiere ^^
I actually had no problem with Damon attacking Matt. He didn't kill him so all is well lol And I loved how Matt understood Damon's anger but couldn't understand Stefan's “choice”. That's saying a lot.
I don't think it was the greatest episode ever but I liked it well enough. Soooo good TVD is back! :D

I think Stefan hypocricy about respecting the other choices will be clear in the next episode from what I have read.
